Welsh construction firm collapses owing £20m making it the biggest crash since Styles & Wood in March 2020 - plus a listing all builders who've bust recently
WRR Construction of Llanelli have gone into administration with the loss of 100 jobs. Sub-contractors and suppliers have been left with £20m headache in unpaid invoices as the firm puts the blame on Covid’s restrictions to business and a failed lifeline loan from Thin Cats Finance.
David Price in Construction News reported: “It reported turnover of £64.2m in its last financial year, making it the largest firm to go under in more than a year. The company worked on public and private sector building projects across Wales. Among its biggest projects was a £22m, 20-storey Premier Inn hotel in Cardiff city centre. At the end of last month it broke ground on a £2.6m childcare facility in Bridgend.”
