ICSM BUSINESS NEWS: Mystery as Scottish print firm ceases trading (but someone else has picked up their work)
By Harry Mottram: Print Week, the printing trade publication has raised doubts about the viability of the Scottish printing firm Ivanhoe Caledonian as they appear to have ceased trading.
Based in Edinburgh with a unit in Musselburgh the company apparently stopped at the end of July according to Print Week.
A local source said that staff had not been paid at the end of last month. The trade publication said that J Thomson Colour Printers has taken on Ivanhoe’s work. The firm merged with Caledonian Colour printers five years ago with a history dating back to the early 20th century.
Print Week reported that a that a local industry source as saying: “Certainly, a lot of people in the trade in Scotland are asking questions. There are all sorts of rumours flying about.”
They continued: “Printweek has been unable to reach Ivanhoe Caledonian founder director Keith Cockburn for comment at the time of writing. Its abbreviated accounts for the 14 months to 31 May 2021 state that Ivanhoe Caledonian had 28 employees. Operations director and co-owner Iain Little ceased to be a director of the business on 10 June.”
